Random Number Generator
Generate random whole numbers in any range, with or without repeats.
How the generator works
Set a minimum and maximum, choose how many numbers you want, and press Generate. Whole numbers are drawn from your range, with both ends included, using your browser's secure random number generator. Every number in the range has the same chance of appearing.
Common uses
- Rolling a die: minimum 1, maximum 6. For two dice, set the count to 2.
- Picking a winner: number your entries and generate one number from 1 to the total.
- Drawing without repeats: turn on "No repeats" so each number can appear only once. Choosing 6 different numbers from 1 to 49, for example, can be done in 13,983,816 ways.
- Sampling and games: choose a random page, a random turn order or a secret number.
Frequently asked questions
Is this truly random?
It uses the randomness built into your device's browser, which is cryptographically strong and more than enough for games, draws and sampling.
Can I pick numbers with no repeats?
Yes. Tick "No repeats". If you ask for more numbers than the range contains, the calculator shows a message.
Are the minimum and maximum included?
Yes. Both ends of the range can be drawn.
Can it make decimals or negative numbers?
It generates whole numbers. Negative whole numbers work if you set a negative minimum, such as -10 to 10.
