Date Difference Calculator
Count the days, weeks, months and years between two dates.
Worked examples
- February 14, 2026 to July 4, 2026 is 143 days (20 weeks and 3 days).
- January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 is 364 days (52 weeks), or 11 months and 30 days.
- The same date one year apart, such as October 30, 2026 to October 30, 2027, is 365 days.
How it is calculated
The calculator counts the full days between the two dates, then splits them into weeks, and also into whole years, months and days. The start day is not counted, so Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. If you want to count both the first and last day, add 1.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include the end date?
It counts the days that pass after the start date, so the end date is included but the start date is not. Add 1 if you want to include both.
Does the order of the dates matter?
No. If the end date is earlier than the start date, the calculator swaps them.
Does it skip weekends or holidays?
No. It counts every calendar day. To estimate working days, subtract the weekends and any public holidays that fall in the period.
How do leap years affect the result?
A leap year has 366 days instead of 365, because of February 29. The calculator counts it automatically.
